Accidental chickens all grown up

The chicks my sister raised are adult chickens now.

Rooster

The rooster. He seems to be some mix of Barred Rock and a red breed.

The hen

The hen. She is not a Barred Rock at all, it seems, but mostly black with brownish strips. She eats cottage cheese from my hand.

Other hens

Other hens of my grandparents. The red ones are of the standard breed in these parts – the one where roosters are black and white, and the hens are red and black. The white ones are new, and they seem to be of some American breed. I have never seen their like in person before.

The hen

She eats from the hand, but is very shy otherwise. Not pettable.

The rooster

The rooster is somewhat shy, but will allow himself to be petted or even picked up.

Chickens

The black hen on the roost is a different one from the pair. She has an eye deformity that is somewhat common to older chickens.

Chickens

The rooster rarely eats from the hand, instead letting the hen eat.

They go everywhere together. They are at least half-siblings, possibly full.
